Abstract EN

Any literary text regardless of its genre is hardly void of an indication to the value of faith, ethics, or material.

This trait is even more prevalent among the poets due to their wider imagination from the others.

They also possess richer word stock and meaning.

This study tries to clarify how Bashar bin Burd represent these two values in his poems.

Any observer will undoubtedly observe clearly the presence of this feature in his poems that is was indicated by Ibn Tabataba such as ethical, self, artistic, historical and conceptual and figurative truth.The study will seeks the views of critics on truth and lie such as that of al-Jurjānī, Qudāmah bin Jaʿfar, Abū Hilāl al-ʿAskarī, Ibnu Sinān al-Khafājī and Ibnu Athīr.

The study concludes that truth and lie are indeed present in the poems of Bashar bin Burd, and this should have been studied; truth cannot be explained when reality and lie were compatible and contrary to the reality itself, particularly in poem.

What is represented in poems in the form of creative concepts and multiple implications is more impressive to the readers; truth in poem and its compatibility with the literary arts give rise to cohesion; truth is the truth of effect in the soul of the receiver which is a realistic truth with a reasonable input of imagination.
