Abstract EN

The study discusses the continuous debate on Arabic prose poem through highlighting on several views and critic studies, the most prominent, two pioneering studies by the critic Samuel Moris on the renewal attempts in the Arabic contemporary poetic discourse.

The study highlights on Moris’ most prominent views beginning from the debate on the translation of terms cutting across the terms of historical reference for the Arabic prose poem in the Western and later the Arabic literatures; the Arabic initial experience in the book on prose poem and finally concluding with his position on prose poem as what is known and endorsed by the poets and critic of Modern Poems in the Journal of Poem: Unsi Al-haj, Yusuf Al-Khal and Adonis.

The study hypothesizes that reason behind the debate on prose poem is ideological more than it being aesthetical albeit the attempts of some satirical writers to rhetorically express that in their views.

The prose poem in the end is a Western product, imitated by many Arab poets who admitted that without the slightest concern, among those who consider it is as a more suitable product for this era indifferent to the views that oppose their inclination to Western models and their attempt to impose them on the various Arabic context.
