Abstract EN

The aim of the study is identifying the reality of the libraries in the Southern Technical University in terms of Site, buildings, area, staff, library group, and information services provided to the beneficiaries of libraries.

The questionnaire is used as a tool to collect data from (146) of beneficiaries to identify the degree of their satisfaction with the libraries.

The study follows the descriptive approach according to the case study method.

The results have revealed that the library buildings were not designed or built to be libraries.

As well as they do not meet the minimum international standards concerning the availability of land areas should be provided for each of the categories: Beneficiaries, office group, staff, and services.

In addition to the obvious lack of the total number of specialized and non-specialized staff in the field of information and libraries.

The study has several recommendations, including: It is necessary to create new sites for the sample study libraries according to the international standards of university libraries, and employing qualified and competent staff.

The sample study libraries should provide and update sources of information such as books, periodicals, audio-visual materials, and CD-ROMs to cover the needs of the beneficiaries
