Abstract EN

A new vision in the origins of the Karmi merchantsD.

Yasir Al MashhadaniIraq / University of Mosul What will be put forward in the research is the outcome of the efforts of twenty years of survey on the new rooting of a very important category of traders specializing in spices Indian during the Middle Ages.

This vision came after several previous opinions and studies were presented regarding their percentage and the reason for their designation by this name (karmi).

And the opinion that we will put forward, supported by a number of evidence based on several sources and according to the historical hierarchy.

A number of Arab historians, as well as orientalists, interested in studying Indian spice trade in the Middle Ages began their scientific research (as Guaitin, Fischl, Bernard Lewis, and Eliahu Ashtour) about this remarkable trade union formation of multinational traders, , But none of them resolved the matter and left the door open with regard to the names of their names.

The weights, simulations, and analyzes of the origin and root of the word were ignored.

They did not pay attention to the hypothesis that we are promoting in this new old research.

To reality is touched We owe several documents to this view, hoping that God will succeed in our endeavor to highlight an important aspect of Islamic civilization.

Before going into the details of this disclosure, it was necessary to provide focused information on (Karmi merchants) and try to find out the first references to them in Islamic sources and others, and to explain the reasons for interest in their trade, which spread during the Middle Ages, as well as to review the weights of orientalists about their origins.

The research was based on important Arab and foreign sources and references as well as the commercial documents that belong to the commercial places of India from ports and commercial agencies.
