Abstract EN

The poeticality of semantic discrepancy is based on the contradiction between the surface meaning and deep meaning.

It has, powerfully, manifested itself in the poetry of Saad Dhalam, which abounds in depictive force that unlocks the mystery of his personality with all its comfort and discomfort.

He utilized semantic discrepancy in a way in which he fused it with the concerns of mankind and their freedom.

His discrepancy is distributed among surprise, wonder and irony and in the way in which he formulated words in the same sentence and one sentence with another.

It is, therefore, reflected in the imageries and the relationship between expressions that refer to them, he used the phenomenon of filtering, metaphor, personification, imagery, escalating imagery, traditional symbol and synesthesia.

He has mastered the linguistic tools and he employed them artistically with precision in structural and lexical choice and their congruity using repetitive expression employing meanings adroitly and successfully.
