Abstract EN

If the processing of individuals' genetic data is of benefit in some areas of treatment and scientific research, nevertheless it has unwanted effects, represented by compromising the trustworthiness of the human body and the privacy of its genetic and hereditary information that distinguishes it from others.

Therefore, the right to confidentiality of individuals' hereditary genetic data and to prevent others from violating it as sensitive data and not to process it without their prior consent is one of the most important legal guarantees for its protection in the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law No.

151 of 2020 and the comparative laws in France and America.

This study is addressing and dealing with these issues by following both analytical and comparative approaches.

The research outline is of two chapters.

The first chapter deals with the nature of the right to the privacy of genetic data, whereas the second is devoted to studying the legal guarantees to protect the right to genetic privacy.

This study concludes with some findings and recommendations, the most important of which is the Egyptian legislator's call to define genetic data and obligate companies that will be operating in the future in collecting and processing genetic data to maintain its confidentiality and obtain the approval of its owners, and the recommendation to issue a law to regulate genetic analysis.
