The Maliki school went through especially difficult periods during the Almohad era that almost led to its demise, and its jurists were also faced with severe war and restrictions on the part of the rulers of this state, and despite all these circumstances, the work of the Maliki school returned during the Zayani era.

Its jurists achieved a high social status, and they received great care by the sultans of the Zayani state, which helped to consolidate the doctrine and increase the scholars working in it, as their intellectual production increased until it became the official state doctrine.
