Abstract EN

We aim through this study to reveal the importance that the Directorate General for National Security (DGNS) in Algeria gives to Facebook regarding the spreading and collection of data in relation to security, and this by emphasizing the most important features of social media sites, especially, Facebook.

This latter, among other sites, has the interest and focus of the DGNS because of its importance in content exchange through the Directorate official page as well as its attractiveness to Algerian users.

Through this study, we reached a set of output, of which the most important are, the allocation of the DGNS to a human and technical staff specialized in digital features.

Also, the consolidation of the culture of reporting and security cooperation among Algerian society is among the most important purposes of the Directorate, as the circumstances of many crimes have been revealed through the cooperation of some users.

As for the nature of the contents in the DGNS page, we found that most of the posts on the page focus on internal security information.
