Abstract EN

The aim of the current research was to investigate the effect of using flipped learning in teaching the course of curriculum foundations on the academic achievement and attitude towards flipped learning among students of the College of Science and Arts at the University of Najran.

To this aim, the quasi-experimental research design was adopted.

Educational videos on the curriculum foundations course were prepared to be watched at home by the study participants, as well as a teacher’s guide, in addition to working papers for students were prepared.

Research instruments included an academic achievement test to measure the cognitive aspects of learning included in the course, in addition to a scale for the attitude towards flipped learning.

Research sample consisted of two groups: an experimental group consisting of (32) students who studied using flipped learning, and a control group comprising (34) students who studied by the lecture method.

Research findings revealed that the experimental group students showed higher level of academic achievement than their peers in the control group since it was revealed that a statistically significant difference was found between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups on the academic achievement post-test in favor of the experimental group.

Furthermore, it was disclosed that the experimental group students surpassed their peers in the control group in developing positive attitudes towards flipped learning as the findings revealed that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups on the post-measurement of the scale of attitude towards flipped learning in favor of the experimental group.

In light of the research findings, a set of recommendations and suggestions for further research were drawn.
