The concept of citizenship is at the same time present in our daily life but also very vague and not very concrete.

It refers to rights, freedoms, voting, demonstrations, nationality, etc.

but it is also increasingly present in the engagements within associations, transnational mobilizations, neighbourhood committees ...

It is a concept in evolution that has been built up over the centuries, starting from concerns of the people and the way of life they have chosen.

"Modern citizenship is not an essence, given once and for all, but a story.

» On the anthropological side, the "citizenship" object remains relatively unexplored, particularly in the Arab domain; in a traditional approach in anthropology, some consider it from the point of view of its links, indissociable with culture; others propose, in a less rigid version, to be interested in the way in which citizenship is influenced (informed) by culture; others, on the contrary, refute, on the same subject, an approach which would be inspired only by a grid of reading "culturalist", to be interested in the models of citizenship proposed by the states or in the educational policies.
