Algeria has experienced a demographic transition since 1980, of a classical diagram of the demographic transition according to the theory of Abdel Omran, to a tendency of divergence compared to the country having experienced the same transition.
A schema that can not be explained solely by demographic and social indicators.
But by apparent economic influence.
The Algerian population is witnessing an aging phenomenon on one side, and a resumption of the birth rate on the other side.
However, the proportion of the working population vis-à-vis the population under 5 and over 60 tends to shrink, which raises the problem of financing social security.
Thereby, the purpose of this article is to highlight the main phases of the demographic transition in Algeria.

La transition démographique que connais l'Algérie depuis 1980 continue à nos jours et change de tendance; d'un schéma classique de la transition démographique conforme à la théorie d'Abdel Omran, à une tendance de divergence par rapport au pays ayant connu la même transition.
Un schéma qui ne peut être expliqué uniquement par des indicateurs démographiques et sociaux, mais par une influence économique apparente.
Le vieillissement de la population est une réalité prouvé, mais en contrepartie, on assiste cette dernière décennie à une reprise de la natalité, ce qui permet de remplacer les générations.
Toutefois, la proportion de la population active face à la population de moins de 5 ans et de plus de 60 ans tend à se rétrécir ce qui pose le problème du financement de la sécurité sociale.
L'objectif de cet article est de mettre en lumière les principales phases de la transition démographique entretenue en Algérie, et les principaux facteurs ayant contribué à son entorse.
