“Shattana” (asunder or what a difference! ) is a unique polysemic Arabic lexeme of multiple linguistic usages and structures.

The present study aims to cull grammatical and linguistic rules sporadically scattered in linguistics and syntax books handling this unique term.

Standard poetic citations; used as authority, are tracked.

Rulings are investigated and citation patterns of such variable structures are analyzed, following the descriptive analytical approach.

The study is divided into an introduction, apreface, two subjects, and a conclusion containing the most important findings and recommendations.
