God - Glory be to Him - is from Egypt on the Nile, that river that the lives of Egyptians have been associated with since ancient times, until Herodotus described Egypt as the gift of the Nile, this river that provided Egypt with abundant water and civilization was established in it and made great progress.

However, in its history, Egypt was subjected to many famines, which were accompanied by epidemics and the spread of diseases due to the lack of Nile water in some years, Among those famines to which Egypt was subjected was famine in the Ayyubid period in 597 AH / 598 AH / 1201, AD 1202, The traveler Abdul Latif Al-Baghdadi visited Egypt before that famine, and he described its conditions before the famine occurred, then he described the famine accurately in a book called (the statement and consideration of the witnessed incidents and incidents in the land of Egypt).

And this book, with its great historical value, because it monitors what the author heard from eyewitnesses, and also monitors what the author saw and examined, but his novels in the book are not accepted as such, It contained many unacceptable exaggerations, and this is why this study came to respond to the exaggerations mentioned in the book.
