The state of Chile occupies an important position among Latin American countries due to its strategic location and economic importance, and as a result it has received the attention of the United States of America, which made it closely monitor developments in the situation there, especially with the approaching presidential elections in Chile in 1970, after three candidates were presented to it, Radomero Tomich Romero.

George Alessandry Rodriguez and Salvador Allende, the United States of America was keen to monitor the electoral process there; Because it was afraid of Allende's coming to power because of his communist background, which was considered by the US administration in the event of his success to be a threat to the American interests in Chile, and foreshadowed the creation of a communist state in Chile similar to Fidel Castro's state in Cuba, and from here the USA resorted to obstructing Allende's access to power.

It failed to cause chaos in the country and began planning with some Chilean military leaders to stage a coup against Allende, which was already done in September 1973 and the coup d'état Augusto Pinochet assumed power to rule Chile militarily.
