The paper aims at analyzing the demographic aspect of the Algerian pension system.

This is illustrated by the fundamental problem of changes in the demographic of Algeria, which have been affected by the change in the age structure which resulted in an increase in the number of older persons.

The study also dealt with the reality of the retirement system from its inception and its development from independence to the present day, and the reforms it underwent, as well as the various institutions that constitute it.
