تتميز مدينة لكناو عاصمة مملكة نواب أوده بمجموعة من المنشآت المعمارية الفريدة من نوعها تعرف باسم الإمامبارة وهي منشأة يدل وجودها على تغلغل المذهب الشيعي و قوة تأثيره في نفوس مسلمي أوده تحت حكم أسرة شيعية إمامية المذهب من أصل فارسي تعرف في المصادر التاريخية باسم "نواب أوده" فقد اتصفت هذه المنشآت بأنها ذات طابع تنظيمي شيدت لكي يتجمع بها الأفراد الشيعيون لممارسة شعائرهم الدينية و خاصة الاحتفال بذكرى كربلاء كما اتخذت رمزا للمشاركة المجتمعية في الإقليم وقد بدأ ظهور هذه النوعية من المنشآت بهضبة الدكن منذ القرن 10هـ/16م و منها انتشر إلى بقية الممالك الشيعية بجميع أنحاء الهند و تعد مدينة لكناو من أهم المدن التي انتشرت بها هذه المنشآت ذات النمط المعماري المميز خاصة مع كون الشيعة أقلية في المجتمع الهندي و لهم خصوصية دينية.

Lucknow, the capital of the Kingdom of Nawab Awadh, is distinguished by a group of architectural structures known as the name of Imambara, Shiite individuals gather in it to practice their religious rites, especially the celebration of Karbala, It has also taken a token on community participation in the region, This type of constructions began to appear on the Deccan since the AH 10 / AD 16th century, and from there it spread to the rest of the Shiite kingdoms throughout India, Lucknow is one of the most important cities in which these distinguished architectural structures spread, With Shiites being a minority in Indian society and having religious peculiarities.
