Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the instructional difficulties in teaching biology in high school in the capital governorate in the state of Kuwait.

This study also aims to identify the effects of gender, academic degree, and teaching experience on the teaching difficulties biology teachers face.

The sample included 54 teachers and data were collected using the educational difficulties in biology teaching questionnaire.

The instrument was evaluated by experts, and reliability was calculated using cronbach alpha.

The instrument was formed of two categories : first part is related to personal information of the interrogator and the second part contains 33 items in the following categories : formulating difficulties of objectives and daily planning, difficulties related biology curricula and textbooks, difficulties related to biology teacher strategies, difficulties related to teacher training, self-development, and applying the biology practical activities and technology.

The results showed the presence of statistically significant differences of the main difficulties that face teachers in teaching modern biology.

Most difficulties are related to biology teacher, followed by the biology book of the curriculum.

The results also indicated that there are statistically significant differences attributable to the variables of gender and teachers degree.

The study also showed that there are significant differences in the order of difficulties in terms of their importance attributed to the variables of gender, qualification and years of experience.
