Abstract EN
The present study seeks to estimate happiness rate and its relation to well-being and religiosity among a sample of college students from Qatar University (N = 244 : 104 males ; 140 females).
The Arabic Scale of Happiness, and five self-rating scales of physical health, mental health, happiness, satisfaction with life, and religiosity were administered.
Males obtained statistically significant higher mean scores on the self-rating scales of mental health and satisfaction with life than did their female counterparts.
The present sample obtained the highest mean score on happiness than college students from 12 Arab countries.
All the Pearson correlation coefficients were statistically significant and positive among males and females.
A principal component analysis retained one high-loaded factor in both sexes and labeled "well-being and religiosity".
It was concluded that those who consider themselves as happy reported higher religiosity.
Therefore, religious beliefs and practices may have the potential to be integrated in the counseling or psychotherapeutic procedures among similar samples to either ameliorate psychopathological symptoms or increase happiness.
