Abstract EN

This current study aims at revealing the extent of using the principles of constructivism theory in Arabic language classes in sultanate of Oman.

To achieve this goal, a questionnaire was designed to target Arabic language teachers in three regions : the South of Al-Batinah, North of Al-Batinah and Muscat.

179 teachers are arbitrarily chosen.

The results have shown that the constructivism theory is highly used by Arabic language teachers from their point of view.

The extent of employing it reaches generally an average of 3.21.

The study also reveals statistically significant difference at the level of (0.05) in the degree of employment between Arabic language teachers regarding gender variable.

Female teachers, as the results illustrate, employ the theory more than male teachers.

Nevertheless, it does not show any distinction between Arabic language teachers who differ in qualification, years of experience and educational level.

According to the results, therefore, the researcher presents two recommendations.

Firstly, Arabic language teachers should be given training courses that focus on showing structural samples, teaching strategies of ST and learning to develop its activities.

Secondly, the teachers should be supplied with enrichment and guidance evidence to clarify the principles of ST and its important educational applications supported with some examples and samples from curriculum.
