Abstract EN

This study dealt with the role of the preventive approach in achieving sustainable protection for the coast, as the Algerian legislator made it under Law 02-02 a basis for the protection and development of the coast.

In order to activate this principle, it was necessary to translate it on the ground through many legal and administrative mechanisms, like administrative control decisions, which devote the pre-control of administration over activities.In addition to planning that based on anticipating of hazards, and address them before they happen.

The study concluded the effectiveness of the prevention principle, and its contribution in achieving sustainable development of the coast, due to its achievement of protection without costs when the damage is completely prevented, or at the lowest costs and with the least damage when the damages are corrected at the source.
