Abstract EN

This study aimed at determining the psychological Adjustment and its relationship with Self-esteem among the wives of prisoners at the centers for reform and rehabilitation in Jordan.

The sample of the study consisted of (55) wives of the prisoners in the national charity which charge from the ministry of social development during academic year 2016.

The researchers used two scales: psychological adjustment which consists of (40) items and self- esteem scale, which consists of (40) items.

The two scales were administrated after checking their appropriate reliability and validity; the data w'as collected and analyzed.

The results showed that the level of both psychological adjustment and self- esteem among the wives of the prisoners at centers for reform and rehabilitation in Jordan was moderate, and the results also shows that there are no significant statistical differences at (a < 0.05) in each of psychological Adjustment and Self-esteem related to the age and educational qualification variables.

There was also a positive statistical correlation betwreen psychological Adjustment and Self-esteem, the researchers recommend conducting researches and studies on the wives of the prisoners of the centers for reform and rehabilitation.
