Abstract EN

The research aims to classify the governorates of Iraq based on the latest statistical surveys for 2007, which were carried out by the Central Bureau of Statistics and in cooperation with international organizations to the less deprived and more deprived governorates through the use of cluster analysis to focus on the most disadvantaged governorates.

The results of this study showed that the least deprived governorates are seven governorates (Anbar, Baghdad, Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, Arbil, Salahuddin, Diyala), which formed cluster (2).

The most deprived governorates are ( Maysan, Muthanna, Qadisiyah, DhiQar, Babel, Wasit, Nineveh, Karbala, Najaf, Dohuk and Basrah) which formed cluster 1.

Therefore, care should be given to the most deprived governorates in the development, construction and services plans according to the six fields of deprivation under study and to reduce their poverty line.
