Abstract EN

Today the right of election and candidate for parliament by women in the word is considered a legal right in all systems and ruling legislations.

woman in Arab region had suffered greatly from enting in 20th century and that was in Jordan since the establishment of the Emirate in 1921 Passing through the royal era in 1948 and the joining of the west Bank in 1948.

Lnspite of issuing many legislations but still woman did not get her chance to reach Parliament of Jordan.

But the working hard by the woman of Jordan throughout women organizations led her for the first time inside Jordan to get her right in Voting for the Parliament and there is the amendment on the electoral law in 1973.

But this right has not been achieved at that time because of the stop age of theParliament inside the Kingdom for the period 1976 – 1984.

With the appearance of Consultative National Council for the period 1978 – 1984 woman in Jordan entered the council by employment and not by election with the return of Parliament in 1984 and issuing the electoral law in 1986 in which woman is being allowed to candidate for the elections, woman participated in the elections of the 11th Parliamentary Council in 1989 but she did not get any seat.

After issuing the law of one vote I 1993 and the elections of the 12th Parliament in 1993, one of the women in Jordan was able to enter the Parliament and she was Tojan Faisal.

But the woman of Jordan failed to reach the elections mode in 1997 and after that a Series of legislations had been issued between 2001 – 2003 which enabled the woman of Jordan to get special seats by Quota which ensured her right to enter the Parliament without getting the needed Votes.
