Abstract EN

This research is an attempt to highlight the concept of the sentence in traditional linguistics especially Arabic grammar, then by examining the development of this concept in modern linguistics.

I concluded in this research that scholars of different eras and linguistic trends each approached the sentence from its perspective and according to its objectives, which gave this concept richness and richness, and therefore the connection must be made when studying the sentence between its semantic and formal aspects without neglecting its functional and cognitive dimensions in order to address this concept in all its aspects.
