The best and most honorable sciences are those related to the Noble Qur'an, foremost of which is the science of readings, as it shows how to pronounce the letters in the Holy Qur'an, and how to read Qur'anic words in their correct form, which the honorable Companions () heard from the Messenger of God .

The Islamic nation has taken care of this blessed science since the mission of the Prophet, and many scholars still devoted their effort and time to working with it.

Among these scholars is Imam Muwaffaq al-Din Ahmad bin Yusuf al-Kawashi (d.680 AH), the author of Tafsir (al-Tafsir fi Tafsir al-Qur'an al-Azim), who was rightly a collector of multiple sciences, and among these sciences was the science of Qur'anic readings.
