Abstract EN

Comparative literature has witnessed serious contributions given by the Soviet comparativists and represented by the Socialist East European countries in the late 1950s.

That is reflected in the joint works of several books dealing with comparative literature whether on the level of theory and application.

This development has contributed to the emergence of a new comparative direction focusing on the importance of typical similarities away from the requirements of cross- impact and influence, known as the Slavic school.

The present study previews the beginning of this school by tracing the origins of the approach and its features, and then it focuses on how Arabs have received the vision of this school in comparative literature.

The finding is that the influence of this school on Arabic comparative criticism has been slow and weak, because of the dominance of French school in literature.
