Abstract EN

This study' aimed to identify the teaching ‘competencies needed by Arabic language teacher's at secondary school level in Bahri locality.

It also aimed to identify if teachershave these capacities.

The researchers used the descriptive method and the questionnaire as a tool for data collection.

The population of the study was all the supervisors of Arabic language at the locality of Bahri in Khartoum state during 2017-2018.

The sample was 35 mail and female supervisors.

The sample in clouded all the members of the population of the study as purposive sample.

The study used a questionnaire as a data collection tool.

All questionnaires were collected and were valid for statistical analysis.

The most important results of the study are: The competencies required for the secondary school teachers of Bahri locality are: classroom management, lesson planning and presentation skills and teaching aids and activities The teachers of Arabic language in secondary schools at Bahri locality have very good capacities of classroom management and lesson planning and presentation skills.

They also have excellent abilities in using visual aids.

There are significant differences in the opinions of the educational inspectors and supervisors regarding the position of the capacities or not.

These differences in the views may be attributed, academic qualifications and years of experience of the sample.

According to the results the researchers recommend: the importance of training teachers on the capacities and introducing them to an in service training that deal with how to use the modern visual aids.

Training courses about teachers capacities should be put into consideration and financed, for teachers specifically the teachers of Arabic language at secondary schools.
