Abstract EN

It us unfortunate to see that the young generation is reluctant of reading and them being attracted to mobiles and modern technology.

The appearance of Satellites made people leave reading and making it less priority to them.

What I mean here by being driven away from reading is that they have abandoned reading books, articles and magazines not that they don't know how to read.

For any Community whose youth and population does not read cannot know it self nor others.

Voltaire was once asked who do you think will lead man kind? He said those who know how to read and write.

So many intellectuals, scholars and artists that this phenomena is not only for the Arab world but it is a common one that has spread worldwide.

Thus we must fight and high light the causes that lead our youth to it, what stands behind this scary phenomena that really harmed our youth.

Is it the family and parents who causes the abandonment of reading? Or is it the society and spread culture?? We cannot neglect the role that family plays in the development of their children's minds and thinking that has withdrawn recently.

Families are going far away from the traditions and values they used to plant in their children.

and that is what made them feel empty psychologically and mentally.

Putting these important facts in mind, this study is divided into two parts: the first is the theoretical one while the second is concerned with the practical part .

The first part contains three sections: the first section contained the problem, importance and hypothesis of the study, while the second section contained the most important concepts of the study like ( what is reading what is not reading and what is youth,).

Finally the third section contained three points: 1-what is the importance of reading, 2- what are the reasons for not reading, and 3- the harms that is resulted from the prevention of reading.

While the practical part of the study tackles the methodology used in gathering and analyzing the data of the study shedding light on the statistical analysis used in the study.

Eventually the study us ended with some suggestions and suggestions for further studies .
