The actual sunshine of the climatic elements that affect the maturity of the cotton crop requires 2400 - 2500 hours of sunshine throughout the growing season.

The yield is not mature until this number has been met, and it affects the quality and staple length of the cotton.The study aims at describing the spatial and seasonal variations in the number of hours of actual sunshine in the Nile Delta, determining the length of the light season for growing the cotton in the different ranges, and determining the appropriate ranges for the cotton crop with its different varieties.

The Nile Delta is one of the most important agricultural Area of cotton crop in Egypt, contributing 92% of its total production in season 2012-2013.

She was chosen for the study.The Methodology is based on the descriptive approach, combined with the objective approach.

To achieve the objectives of the study, it focused on the following main points: cotton crop growth phases, cotton needs for actual sunshine, distribution of actual hours of sunshine, photoperiod of cotton, and compatibility of actual sunshine of cotton.

The study concluded several results, including: Sharqia, Qalyubiya, Damietta and northern Delta are not suitable ranges for the cultivation of cotton long staple, but rather long cotton medium.
