Abstract EN

Many argumentative texts conclude with a phrase that confound receiver by suddenly and surprisingly ending the argumentation.

This phrase has many unique characteristics.

Based on a set of linguistic and semiotic justifications, I here coin the term «’urjOmah» to describe this phrase.

The research aims to investigate this phrase by showing its characteristics and identifying its types.

To fulfill this aim, the study utilizes a pragmastylistics method which is a new method that is basically stylistics but with a pragmatic component added to it.

The data selected for investigation is some short inherited tales mentioned in some Arab source books.

The selection is based on a set of words and phrases that sealed the tales to indicate an end of utterances and a beginning of acts.
