English Abstract

Young expensive period in human life, they are most valuable asset and the value of the life of the community and their major position in the life of the nation.

The importance of young people in the present and the future stems from the importance of always because of its impact on human life is the strength and vitality and enthusiasm, the human resource is important and the main pillar of community life, especially in developing communities, specifically the Iraqi society.

While considered a voluntary social work of the most important means used to participate in the advancement of the status of the communities in our time, and gaining social work increasingly important day by day, and it became known that governments, whether in developed or developing countries, can no longer meet the needs of its members and their communities, with the complexity of living conditions and increased social needs and became a constantly changing, so it had to be the presence of the other parallel government agencies to fill in the public domain and complement the role played by the government in meeting the social needs of the parties, and called this the "private institutions" or "institutions civil society "..

in many cases, the role of civil society institutions proactive role in addressing social, economic and cultural issues, and not complementary, and became puts the plans and programs of development model for governments.

Despite the nature of the social work of great importance to the development of communities and the development of the capacities of individuals, but we find a small percentage of young people who engage in social work, there is a reluctance by young people from participating in social work despite the fact that young people enjoy a high level of culture and thought and membership level despite the existence of laws and institutions, programs and awards that encourage young people to participate actively in the development of their community.

This raises the question of the causes leading to the reluctance of young people to participate in social work, and we will try in our present offer some ideas that may contribute to answer some questions and give a picture of the young people and their aspirations, and their role in development, and the possibility of their investment in voluntary social work in Iraq, as well as the hope that these ideas contribute to open up some prospects for the aspirations of young people to participate in voluntary social work in our beloved Iraq.
