Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the degree of availability of safety requirements in middle school buildings, and it's relationship to school accidents, and whether there are differences in the level of availability of safety requirements depending on the school's original design and age.

To achieve these objectives, a questionnaire was designed for safety requirements and another one for the nature of school accidents.

Both questionnaires were applied to a sample of (171) teachers in two districts in the south-east of Medea.

The results revealed the availability of a medium level of safety requirements in school buildings in terms of warning and fire systems, and means of escape, and a higher level in terms of design.

The results also revealed a significant inverse correlation between the level of availability of security requirements in terms of location and design and school accidents related to falling students in the yard and on the school stairs, as well as statistically significant differences in the availability of security requirements attributed to school's original design and age.
