The question of land in South Africa is an important issue that is stabilizing, and is deeply linked to the racist practice in which white settlers have been involved since they stepped South Africa.

For two centuries (from the mid-seventeenth to the mid-19th centuries), white Europeans seized the bulk of the land in South Africa, so much so that the average ownership of one of their farmers was more than the possession of an entire African tribe, where the dense numbers of African farmers were pushed to the worst quality land and the least water.

After the Europeans lived in small settlements surrounded by Africans on each side, Africans were living in separate tribal homelands, one on the other, while the Europeans dominated the entire land.
