Abstract EN

The art of poetic dissent originated from ancient times, and it depended on the idea of simulation, i.e.

simulating the poet intended for a previous work, and this art enriched Arab poetry a lot, due to the poets ’keenness to prove the superiority and creativity of oppositional texts.

In spite of the abundance of studies that dealt with the art of poetry oppositions by research and study, and touched on explaining its concept and related aspects such as : the history of this art, its conditions and the motives behind its spread among poets from different eras, these and other aspects that researchers were exposed to in their studies, except That these studies, in their abundance, not one of them was subjected to a detailed study about Ibn Zaidoun’s opposition to Al-Mutanabbi.

For this reason, this study dealt with talking about the concept and motives of the poetic opposition, then looking at Ibn Zaidoun’s opposition to Al-Mutanabbi, and trying to reveal the features and aspects of this opposition, and how each of them deals with time, ego and the other, in order to prove that the simulation does not nullify or marginalize the poet’s personality, Rather, it retains his personality and distinctive features within the poem.
