Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the reality of sharing tacit knowledge using social networks among employees at King Fahd Public Library, and it sought to uncover the obstacles that limit the sharing of implicit knowledge through social networks.

The study used the case study methodology and relied on the interview as a tool to collect data from the study sample, which consisted of twenty-one (21) male and female employees.

The study reached several results, the most prominent of which is: All employees have personal accounts on social networks at a rate of (100%).

It turned out that Whatsapp is one of the most used social networks in sharing tacit knowledge among employees with a high rate (85.7%) compared to other networks.

Employees share their tacit knowledge with coworkers through social networks in order to improve and develop their professional skills and capabilities (66.7%).

The most important obstacles to sharing tacit knowledge in general and through social media networks in particular were the failure of the library to provide financial or moral incentives to encourage employees to share their tacit knowledge at a rate of (61.9%).

The study recommended several recommendations, including writing a clear policy and a regulation for the exchange of implicit knowledge and the need to provide Moral and material incentives to encourage employees to share tacit knowledge.
