Abstract EN

The Holy Qura'an is Allah's marvelous sacred book with which Allah challenged the worlds, specially the scholars of eloquence and rhetoric.

the thoughtful reader of the Qura'an will notice the variety of terms and its meanings according to the context, even if it has the same connotation.

The context plays an essential role in identifying the meaning of the word, as it transfers the words from the tranquil linguistic atmosphere to the movable frame of utterance.

Al Gahez referred to the distinguishing feature of the Qura'anic terms' connotation and the notion that people could use specific terms instead of the suitable ones.

Allah mentioned "hunger" to refer to a situation of punishment, destitution or clear inability.

People don't mention "starvation", and use the word "hunger" in case of ability and well- being.

Allah also mentioned "rain" in a case of revenge, also the public and most of the specialized a people don't separate the term "rain / المطر" from "الغيث", the thing that let me know that every vowel and letter in the Qura'an has a connotation, and that the qura'anic context has the flexibility and the abundance that allow it to accept more than one word and expression.

I've always longed to study Allah's most sacred book (the Qura'an) so that I can follow the steps of the people who preceded to study such a pure spring, till I choose my subject "The impact of the context on identifying the meaning of "goodness" in the Holy Qura'an".

Reasons of choosing the subject: -- its relation to the Qura'an, in which we find the most eloquent and fluent utterance.

The Qura'an is enriched with words extracted from the same source, and the researcher should tend for the Qura'anic context which contains these terms, as he is the one who interpret Allah's intended meaning.

"Goodness" is one of the general central comprehensive words that comfort one's self and enjoy his ears for what it aspire of joy, happiness, and delight, because man has always been wishful for goodness.

I utilized the descriptive analytical approach through my study and elicited some results: Tending for the context is as ancient as the interpretation of the Qura'an, because it existed at the time of sending it.

The interpreters relied on the context through explaining terms and structures, they also used it in the best way to reveal the intended meaning fitting the rules of interpretation.

The term of "goodness" was suitable, through the context, for the intended people.

As for the disbelievers, the term was explained as the worldly desires and joys of money, children, and health…etc.

As for the believers, they're on the other side of it because they wish for the goodness of this world and life after death.

The believers were addressed by the word "goodness" more than the others, the thing that agrees with the Islamic approach of mercy.
