The aim of the research was to identify King Khaled University Faculty of Education special education pre-service teachers' competence level of the scientific concepts and the characteristics of their scientific sense.

Two instruments were prepared to verify the aim of the research: the test of scientific concepts included in primary stage science curricula and the scale of the characteristics of scientific sense.

The two instruments were administered to a sample of 128 special education pre-service teachers (pathways of visual handicap, learning difficulties, and mental handicap).

Findings of the research revealed a low level of competence (among sample members) of the scientific concepts and a statistically significant difference (at the level of 0.05) between means of scores of the sample members favoring visual handicap teachers and learning difficulties teachers over mental handicap teachers in the test of scientific concepts.

The findings also revealed no difference between visual handicap teachers and learning difficulties teachers in the same test.

It was also revealed that the level of having characteristics of scientific sense was low among sample members and that there was a statistically significant difference (at the level of 0.05) between means of scores of sample members favoring visual handicap teachers over mental handicap teachers in the scale of the characteristics of scientific sense.

In addition, there was no difference between teachers of visual handicap and teachers of learning difficulties from one hand and teachers of mental handicap from the other hand in the same scale.

Recommendations and suggestions for further research were made in light of the findings revealed by the research.
