Abstract EN

The Muslim Brotherhood is one of the largest Islamic movements in the Arab and Muslim world, whose social and political role aims at educating individuals and building a state according to Islamic principles.

However, in its political practices, questions about the group's views on the concept of democracy and modern state have begun to emerge in the political scene.

In this scientific article, we try to answer the following question: To what extent has the concept of pluralist democracy and the modern state been recognized in the literature of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt? From this, we assume that the transformations of the last three decades in the Egyptian political situation can give birth to a gradual, but incomplete, reform that tends to accommodate the concept of pluralistic democracy.

The methodology of the article is based on developing a comparative approach between the various roles played by the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt during different political periods.

We also employ an illustrative approach that shows the relationship of state with society and how does the group's social practices contribute to political change.
