Abstract EN

The repetition of the term "Ghalatt" (mistake) in Ibn Mujahid's "The Seven Readings Book" – variant linguistic recitations of Glorious Quran, aroused my interest to explore the reasons behind faulting some of these readings while outwardly verifying none of the mistakes.

So, I pursued close examination and exploring the issue of such readings and perfectly discovered the satisfying answer in al-Farisi's "al-Hojja" (The Argument), in which he reveals that Ibn Mujahid is crucially right in his judgment with regard to the mistaken readings among the seven linguistic recitations.

In that, he based all judgments to fault some readings on scrutiny and thorough reasoning.

Upon his long term of scientific expedition in a variety of linguistic environments, he only chose seven out of a considerable amount of readings.

Indeed, he faults recitations of some reciters due to restricted criteria including; righteous narration, identical Quran inscription and consistency with Arabic grammar in one aspect at least.

And so, Ibn al-Farisi's documentation of "GhalƏt" readings violates neither of Ibn Mujahid's criteria.

Subsequently, this paper is divided into two sections; mistaken narration and identically Quran inscription in addition to consistency with Arabic grammar in one aspect at least.
