Important topics in the matter of modern penitentiary policy, actually its constitutes one of the applications of the use of new technologies in the field of the execution of the penal punishment.

Despite the huge doctrinal opposition whom early has expressed several objections about this system, this latter made success and proved its efficiency in many countries since it was able to avoid the most of the disadvantages which ‘’de facto’’ go with the freedom deprivation as well as its negative effects for the inmate and his family.

Already a doctrinal and legilative movement militates for the substitution of the execution of the penal punishment geography, by withdrawing the classic and material emprisonment system, towards a virtual detention to which the system of electronic monitoring is the main carrier.
