Abstract EN

The present study aims to test the impact of inflation on the economic growth rate in the Egyptian economy during the period 1980-2017, in order to determine the optimal level of the inflation threshold, as the inflation rate exceeded this target level of the optimal threshold of inflation negatively affect economic growth.

The optimal level of the inflation threshold in the Egyptian economy is 5%, and exceeding the target inflation rate this rate has negative effects on the economic growth in the Egyptian economy.

The lower inflation rate than the optimal rate of inflation threshold leads to the effect of inflation on economic growth, Zera because the inflation target by the Central is 9% by the end of 2020, is therefore proposed that the central bank to reconsider this target rate to be 5% instead of 9% so inflation does not affect negatively on the economy's growth.
