The development of the geographic information system, which has many uses and many applications, has contributed in a lot of spatial studies, such as, urban planning land uses and the study of services and others.

The most common applications of geographic information systems are those which are linked with the growing of society and its development.

These applications have been largely used in the study of public services, such as health services in addition to educational services like kindergartens, schools and universities.

The geographic information systems have been used in the research in the study of university education services in the Syrian Arab Republic and that was by building a data base, which includes clues and information about geographic location for government and private Syrian universities, and producing maps which clarify the students distribution in the country universities and an update of their numbers.
