Abstract EN

In Tlemcenian dialect, a noun can be indefinite by deleting the article “el” before it, as in most Arabic dialects, but there is another form that is unique to their counterparts; when a noun with the article “el” is preceded by “ħəl”, it becomes indefinite too.

There are some formal and usual differences between the two ways.

In this study, I tried to analyze sentences of some native speakers in order to describe their use of the second way, that is, by focusing on the component “ħəl”, I rely on the Arabic grammatical model.

Finally, I draw attention to hypotheses about the origin of this word.
