Our ancestors' disagreement over the interpretations of the Qur᾿ān is limited, but their disagreement over the jurisprudential rulings outweighs these interpretations; however, theirs is a disagreement of variation, not of contradiction.

The present study is about Sūrat An-Nazi‛āt because much argument has taken place among our ancestors about it.

The research paper consists of an introduction, two sections and a conclusion.

The introduction explains the reasons for choosing the research topic, as well as the research plan and its method of study.

The first section includes a theoretical background of the study, which covers three issues: the first is a definition of disagreement in Qur᾿ānic exegesis and its types: disagreement of variation and disagreement of contradiction; the second issue is about the term ancestors; and the third issue indicates reasons behind different interpretations of the Qur᾿ān by our ancestors.
