Abstract EN

In the past years, the world has witnessed an explosion in the amount of digital data available via satellites and various communication channels.

This digitalization revolution which was activated by high-efficiency and low-cost devices, resulted in large volumes of data available worldwide which specialists refer to by “Big Data”.

Researchers and statisticians began to develop methods to exploit and benefit from this big data to improve human life.

Indeed, the impact of large-scale data has been enormous; data provided by databases were analyzed and transformed into information for new perceptions and ideas that benefit individuals as well as institutions, to improve the economies of societies, achieve competitiveness, preserve the environment and health, protect the community and meet the needs and improve living standards.

As a result, in the near future big data can improve government policies in general and the Arab government policies in particular.

Based on that, we raise the following questions: how data is used in sustainable development and the areas of their use, if Big Data has a role in decision-making, what value added in changing society to achieve sustainable development goals, and how they work to monitor progress and advancing development, thus keeping up with the times.

To provide answers the study examined documentary and literary sources for gathering and analyzing information regarding the topic.
