Abstract EN
The Libyan coastline is of economic importance.
It is considered an important commercial fishery for economic fish, but it is considered a breeding ground for small economic fish.
It is also considered an important station for migratory fish which it takes as a shelter where appropriate food and escape from predation.
The average annual productivity of fish was 235544 tons during the period 2000-2008.
The growth rate of fish production in Libya was about 42.1%.
The average annual productivity of the eastern region was 5920 tons, 2.5% of the total productivity in Libya, The Benghazi fishing station recorded the first place in the productivity of the eastern region with about 4110 ton, followed by the Green Belt fishing station with 3229 ton, followed by Elkoba, then Elbatnan, then Darnah, then Elmarj and then El-Gabal El-Akhdar with average annual reached about 1324 ton, 926 ton, 378 ton, 130 ton, and 59 ton respectively during the study period.
The average number of boats was 1494 boats at an annual growth rate of 16.7%%, about 80 bulldozers at an annual rate of growth of 11.6% during the study period and the fishing tools used for slaughtering, felucca, mooring and barge.
The average fishing effort was about 30 tons / boat and bulldozer annually. The study showed that about 1719 fishermen, mostly from Egypt, worked in various fishing ports, with an annual growth rate of about 7.1%.
The specific composition of the commercial catch of the coast of Libya includes 98 species belonging to 40 families, which are predominant in the Eastern Province, the families of Al-Hurriyat, Sarandidi, Meoglidi, Miyolidi, Thundi, Scomprmoride and Karangidi.
The analysis of the secondary fishing of bulldozers operating in the eastern coast of Libya in 2008 found that the secondary fishing catch was about 3 to 8 kg for all fishing rugs by 9.1% to 24.3% of the total catch of the bulldozer.
About 43 species representing about 19 families were collected from Including 6 species belonging to the Red Sea in terms of origin.
The numerical density of 13 species throughout the study period was 75.2% of total secondary fishing: normal corals, coriander, manna, yellow parachet, Zalgana, anchovy and parrot.
