Abstract EN

The world witnessed a health crisis resulting from the emerging coronavirus pandemic in late 2019.

The countries of the world adopted the strategy of complete or partial closure of economic activities and social distancing.

Within few weeks this crisis turned into an economic pandemic.

The Egyptian government also relied on the partial closure of some economic activities.

In light of this, the study examines the implications of the coronavirus pandemic on the Egyptian economy and the policies aimed at mitigating these repercussions and adapting to them as much as possible.

In the short term, the most important of these policies are to support low-income families and sectors affected by the negative repercussions.

In the medium term, these policies include developing the health sector, investing in the infrastructure of the communications and information technology sector, and investing in the green economy sectors to achieve sustainable development.
