Abstract EN

The current research aims at identifying the degree of cognitive strength of students in the preparatory stage and the degree of cognitive control power in the middle school students according to the variable of specialization (literary, biological, applied).

The study sample consisted of (150).

In the first year of the academic year 2017-2018, the researchers used the measure of the cognitive control power of Stevenson 1998 (Kadhim 2017), which is composed of 30 paragraphs.

The first rank of the cognitive control force consists of (13) paragraphs, and the second rank of the power of Si show the results of the statistical analysis that the answers of female students in the literary branch are very close in grades on the cognitive strength of knowledge.

The first two levels and the second the difference between is simple, while the students in the branch of biology obtained higher degrees in the second level of the measure of the strength of cognitive control and this indicates that the students enjoy the exercise of knowledge activities.

The students in the branch of applied almost converged the strength of cognitive control scale, they got first and second rank providing researchers with a number of recommendations and suggestions.
