The present research aims to identify the role of academic counseling in the development of university education from the perspective of students of the University of Mustansiriya for the morning and evening study of the faculties (Arts, Education, Science, Administration and Economics, Law, Engineering) and the academic year (2018-2019), and to identify the concept of psychological counseling And its importance in general and academic guidance in particular because of its close relationship to the success of students in their academic and social life, and in building a society that requires confronting this imbalance and the search for its causes and sources and work to remedy.

The researcher built on the descriptive analytical approach, monitoring and previous studies that discussed the subject of academic counseling and its role in the development of university education.

The researcher built the study tool and represented the scale of the role of academic guidance in the development of university education.

The sample consisted of (16) paragraphs.

The sample consisted of constructing the questionnaire and applying it to (300) students from Al-Mustansiriya University.

The scale was characterized by the characteristics of discrimination, honesty and consistency.

The researcher used the statistical bag (SPSS) to analyze the data.

The researcher pointed out that the level of the role of academic guidance in the development of university education from the point of view of the university students is acceptable to equal the average sample with the hypothesis average of society, as for any paragraph more severe than others is paragraph (14) periodic follow-up of the level of scientific students within the university and work to raise To the competent authorities, especially with regard to the curricula and their relevance to the labor market as they represent their weight and percentage weight respectively (2.05) and (68.33), while the lowest degree was the share of paragraph (7) contribute to comprehensive development programs and prepare students professionally sound Commensurate with the realism of education In the Iraqi universities, which represented their weight and weight percentage, respectively (1.86) and (61.89), and based on the results of the researcher reached some conclusions, recommendations and proposals
