Abstract EN

The research aimed to identify art criticism among students of the Department of Fine Arts as well as differences in art criticism between students of the Department of Fine Arts and the relationship of art criticism with some variables.

The study was conducted on all students of the Department of Plastic Arts of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Diyala University, which number (119) male and female students (47) students in the first stage and (50) students for the second stage and (22) students for the third stage ..

This sample was used in the exploratory study in the validity and stability of the tool, while the students of the first and second phases (97) were represented as a sample of the basic study.

In the current research, one research tool was used to test the art criticism (the visual test).

The study found that the students of the Department of Fine Arts have weak ability in art criticism, and there are no differences in art criticism between male and female students.

The researchers recommended several recommendations, including attention to the subject of art criticism in the programs of preparing students of the Department of Plastic Arts, and proposed two proposals, one of which is "the relationship of art criticism with students of the Department of Plastic Arts with their personal characteristics"
